004

Today is mostly about Marie-T. She brought in some pieces that she had made at home. This one is made of t-shirts hooked into hessian

005

and this is the reverse, beautifully made

006

and just a little detail showing the hessian layer which she has cleverly covered over

008

Marie-T has made a cushion cover from her piece she wove on the frame loom

007

and this is the reverse, complete with zip

009

This week she started warping up a four shaft table loom with the warp she made last week, assisted by Maria. Going well, raddled and wound on beautifully neatly, good team work

010

and the heddle threading is going well. Nearly ready to weave, but unfortunately she won’t be able to come for a couple of sessions. She will be preparing her t-shirt yarn for when she comes back though

011

Mair’s weaving

Flome and Tika both started new warps, Christina carried on with her piece and Elizabeth and Jenny did some spindle spinning.

Wednesday 22nd April 2015

thank you Flome for the photos

Tika was busy over the Easter break. She made lots of bands on the inkle loom and wove the warp she had made at the last session, think we need a closer look at that, it will probably be turned into a bag or something before the next session, so productive as always

Flome’s t-shirt rug is almost finsished

and it’s off the loom, a bit of tidying up to do but it’s looking good!

and Marie-T has made a warp, she is planning to use t-shirts too to make a rug

Wednesday 1st April 2015

As it was the end of term we had a tea party in the Lounge cafe upstairs. Zina and Maria made us a lovely tea: sandwiches, humous and tortilla chips, fruit skewers and wheat free chocolate cake. All delicious and we polished it off quickly and had a good chat before going down to the workshop.

018 the remains of the feast….

Not a lot of work was done after that though, some of us felt too stuffed! however Tika brought in a whole load of things to show us that she had made at home while she was ill! These are all in the folder “Tika’s Work”.

Elizabeth was warping up the little two shaft with some nice natural coloured yarns but we failed to get a photo….

Tika managed to make a warp to take home for the easter holiday. So productive….and Maria and Marie-T were able to help her with this and learn a bit more about making a warp

031 Tika’s latest warp, which I am sure will be transformed into something by next term
026 these are the huge spools of Harris tweed yarn she used
030 Tika also brought in this rather nice scarf that she may try to copy – using better colours
025 and this bag that she bought which is strange colours but an interesting construction. It is made of two long strips
012 Jenny brought in a Turkish style spindle that she had made out of five chopsticks and four rubber bands. She is spinning Leo’s fleece which is a really easy one to spin, its quite addictive, she finds it hard to stop. These type of spindles could be good for teaching as they are quite slow. Jenny and Elizabeth may use these at the spinning sessions they are planning at Buddhafield in May
